Coach Allen is the former head coach at Northern Vance high school and Warren County high school where he was named Conference Coach of the Year in 1994. He was also the head coach of the Oxford American Legion program from 2006-2008.

Coach Allen was the co-founder of NGAA Baseball in Oxford, NC in 2002 and has seen 2 state titles as well as 15 district titles in 3 age groups in Dixie Youth Baseball.

He was the founder of the Lake Monsters baseball organization in 2007 that helped produce over 40 college players including one 9th round draft pick in the 2010 MLB draft.

Coach Allen is the founder and former owner of the Baseball Warehouse Indoor facility in Oxford which opened in 2002.

His son Ryan played with the Dirtbags in 2009 and is currently playing baseball at Gardner-Webb University.
