Maier spent 11 years coaching college baseball. He coached four years at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Parkside and spent the last seven years as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at High Point University. His 2007 staff broke the school strike out record and he helped six H.P.U. hurlers go on to professional baseball. Maier worked with three All-American’s and 11 All-Conference players while at High Point University
