Cory Wood is a graduate of Sanderson High School (2012-2016) where he holds many offensive records. He was a 4-time letterman, 3 time All-Conference, and 2016 Cap 8 Player of the Year. He was named Captain of The Dirtbags for the 2016 class.

He went on to have a good career at Coastal Carolina (2017-2019) winning 2 Sunbelt Championships. He was the 2017 Sunbelt Freshman of the Year, earned all-conference 2 times and all-American once as well. He was picked up in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Wood was named Youth/Middle School Director in January of 2024.
